Dr. Laura Hollinger joined the faculty at MUSC in 2017. She received her undergraduate degree from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas, and then her doctorate in medicine degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston at the McGovern Medical School. She completed her internship and residency in general surgery at the Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas. She also completed a two-year research fellowship at the Methodist Hospital Department of Surgery and Research Institute where she studied critical illness and the distant organ effects of kidney ischemia-reperfusion injury., , Dr Hollinger completed her fellowship training in pediatric surgery in 2017 at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston, Texas. While in Houston, her training included both open and minimally invasive approaches to neonatal and pediatric general surgical diseases., , Throughout her training, Dr. Hollinger has been recognized for academic excellence and she currently maintains active membership in the American Pediatric Surgical Association. Dr. Hollinger’s research interests include congenital diaphragmatic hernia, acute kidney injury, and pediatric ECMO support during critical illness.

Charles J. Gudas, DPM, is an experienced podiatrist who specializes in modern foot and ankle surgery at Associated Foot Specialists in Charleston, South Carolina.   Dr. Gudas has lectured internationally on surgical techniques. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Podiatric Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons.  Dr. Gudas performed an AO Foot and Ankle Surgical fellowship in St. Gallen, Switzerland, which involved the study of internal fixation procedures for fractures, osteotomies, and reconstructive procedures of the foot and ankle.   Dr. Gudas was a professor of clinical surgery on the teaching staff of the University of Chicago Medical Center section of orthopedic surgery. Dr. Gudas was the director of the podiatric residency program at the University of Chicago and directed one of the largest medical center affiliated foot clinics in the country. Dr. Gudas has been a director/course coordinator for both the AO basic and advanced surgery courses that have been given in the United States since 1993. Since 2014, Dr. Gudas has been a director of the American Academy of Foot and Ankle Osteosynthesis (AAFAO), which is an organization dedicated to teaching residents and fellows basic and advanced principles of internal/external fixation techniques for fractures, osteotomies, and reconstructive foot and ankle surgery. Dr. Gudas is currently staffed at Roper/St. Francis Hospital, James Island Surgery Center, and East Cooper Hospital, as well as the Low Country Ambulatory Surgical Center. Dr. Gudas was instrumental in the development of the Scarf/Z Osteotomy for the correction of moderate to severe hallux valgus (bunion deformities). Dr. Gudas has lectured internationally on this technique, and this procedure is currently being performed on a worldwide basis.

Dr. Christian Streck graduated from Duke University in 1994 with a BS in biology and an AB in history. He received his medical degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1999. He completed general surgery residency in Memphis, Tennessee in 2006. This included a research fellowship studying childrens cancer at St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. He completed pediatric surgery fellowship at LeBonhuer Childrens Hospital in Memphis in 2008. He is currently board certified in general and pediatric surgery. Dr. Streck is an associate professor of surgery and pediatrics at the Medical University of South Carolina.
