This park is owned by the Cook County Forest Preserve but is leased and used by the River Forest Park District. It features a baseball diamond and a large grassy area for all kinds of outdoor activities.
Lake Julian is where over five decades of private stocking is reflected by the number of fisherman who make Lake Julian a steady habit for fun and relaxation. Fishing here is fun for beginning and expert fishermen alike.
There are two fishing areas, the trout pond and the Big Lake. To fish in Lake Julian's trout pond, all you have to pay for is the fish you catch which includes packaging and icing. Lake Julian Fishing will clean your trout for an additional charge. There is no limit, and there is no admission charge.
The Big Lake has a daily fee per person, but no extra charge for the fish you catch. Catch and release all you like in the Big Lake. If you would like to take your fish home there are limits of two Trout, two Walleye, two Northern, two Bass, four Catfish and ten Panfish.
Additionally, Lake Julian has a bait and tackle shop. Whether fishing at Lake Julian or you just need some fishing supplies, the bait shop has what you need. There is also a picnic area for family fun and scouting programs for young people.
Lake Julian Fishing is a member of the Cary Chamber of Commerce.
