The Housing Authority of the City of Mission administers public housing assistance programs, promotes the development of affordable housing opportunities and encourages economic self-sufficiency. It administers the Family Self-Sufficiency program, which helps public and assisted housing residents achieve economic independence. The authority runs an after-school drug elimination program that provides information about the ill effects of various mood altering chemicals, such as alcohol, marijuana, cocaine and other drugs. It also provides after-school tutoring, educational programs and scholarships, as well as opportunities for residents to participate in volleyball, basketball, softball, soccer and flag football.
