Superior Essex was founded in 1930 as Essex, and supplied insulated wire products to Ford Motor Company. The company is the combination of Essex and Superior TeleCom in 1998, and the addition of Essex Nexans in 2005. Its two main product lines are magnet wire/winding wire and OSP copper communications cable. Superior Essex is one of the largest wire and cable manufacturers in North America. It provides communications wire and cable products to telephone companies, CATV companies, distributors and system integrators. The company also supplies magnet wire and insulation materials for motors, transformers and electrical controls. Its magnet wire products are components of the motors, generators and transformers that power automobiles, home appliances, commercial machinery and millions of items. Superior Essexs customers include an array of manufacturers worldwide. The company has headquarters in Atlanta and more than 20 manufacturing facilities in the United States, including Hoisington, Kan., and Mexico and Europe.
