LBX Company, located in Lexington, Ky., manufactures Link-Belt brand excavators for the forestry, scrap and material handling industries. The Link-Belt brand name dates back to 1874, when Dana Ewert, a farm implement dealer, patented his Link-Belt chain. LBX was formerly a division of the Link-Belt Construction Equipment Company, and became a stand-alone company in 1998. The company was formed as a joint partnership between Sumitomo Construction Machinery and CNH Global. LBX operates as a board-controlled, stand-alone company and is responsible for all Link-Belt earthmoving, forestry and material handling equipment in North and South America. The company sells its products through a network of distributors that provide ongoing sales, parts, service and technical support to Link-Belt equipment owners.
