Established in 1990, Cincinnati History Museum is one of the largest urban history museums in the United States. The museum displays materials and related aspects of the history of Cincinnati and the surrounding region. Its permanent exhibits include a recreation of the Cincinnati Public Landing of the late 1850s, and a 94-foot side-wheel steamboat. The museum also has a large home-front exhibit on World War II and an actual 1940s streetcar. It displays a model of the city of Cincinnati from 1900s to 1940s with working trains and inclines, as well as interactive computer stations. The museum offers special activities for children, including negotiating a canal boat through a 50-foot model of the Miami and Erie Canal, and imagining floating down the Ohio River on a child-sized flatboat. It also projects Cincinnati s role during the Civil War through historical sceneries, music and recordings of letters, and words from people. The museum is located in Cincinnati.

Located in the lower level of the historic Bacon Free Library, the Natick Historical Society and museum is home to some of Natick's cherished artifacts. The collection includes The Natick Indian Community founder John Eliot's Indian Bible from the 1600s, as well as items once belonging to Harriet Beecher Stowe, Horatio Alger Jr. and the 20th U.S. Vice President Henry Wilson, who grew up in town. Must see/do at the American Museum of Natural History
Several rooms filled with dinosaur bones are unmissable, with exhibits explaining the linkage between dinosaurs and birds. The Hall of Human Evolution displays our ancestors, including famous Lucy. Many people don't realize the museum includes a planetarium, and the sky shows there explain the origins of the universe.

Admission to the American Museum of Natural History
The museum's posted admission rates are around $20 for adults, with lower rates for students and seniors. If you buy tickets in advance, you'll pay that rate, but if you pay when you arrive, admission is "pay any amount." There are separate charges for special exhibits and 3-D movies.

Parking and public transportation to the American Museum of Natural History
There's a subway entrance right inside the museum; it's easily reached by bus as well. The museum has a parking garage, but you may be able to find free parking on nearby streets.

The South Shore Natural Science Center is a nonprofit organization that focuses on educating people about the natural and cultural environment of the South Shore in Massachusetts. It covers an area of more than 25 acres and features a preschool, gift store, Vine Hall Art Gallery, EcoZone museum and woodland trails. The center offers a variety of programs for adolescents, children, adults and families. Its Nature Adventures Summer Day Camp organizes enrichment activities about the natural world for children up to the age of 14. The South Shore Natural Science Center s preschool is licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care and accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children. It also provides spaces for hosting receptions, birthday parties, and auditorium- and banquet-style functions of up to 70 people, as well as conducts day and overnight programs for scouts. In addition, the center s EcoZone is a multidimensional, interactive exhibition area that highlights the ecosystems of southeastern Massachusetts. Its gift store offers a selection of toys, books, T-shirts and other gifts. The South Shore Natural Science Center is located in Norwell, Mass., and is affiliated with the Massachusetts Teachers Association and Federated Garden Clubs.

The Anniston Museum of Natural History started in 1915 with the personal collection of historical objects and biological specimens of Severn Regar, moved to Anniston in 1929 and reached its permanent location in the city in1976. It was accredited by the American Association of Museums in 1991. The permanent exhibits range from the mummies of ancient Egypt and a geology collection to the plants, animals and birds of North America.
