The Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation is located in the former Francis Cabot Lowell factory on Moody Street at the Charles River. The museum opened in 1980.

The Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation's goal is to educate people on the important role industry played in the history of the United States and to foster innovation, which is critical for the continued growth of the country. This is done through the museum's various exhibits featuring Waltham businesses. These cover textiles, steam power, watches and clocks, transportation and more.

Group tours are available with advance notice. The museum is also available for rent for private events. Please contact the museum directly for more information.

Leland and Steven Meitzler from Orting, Wash. sold their private collection of genealogy books and records in 1982, which became the basis of the Heritage Quest Research Library in Sumner. The library became a nonprofit organization in 1996 and is run completely by volunteers as an independent research facility. Volunteers can teach Saturday classes and share their knowledge or work a shift as a librarian. The library also participates in quarterly and annual heritage events throughout the Pacific Northwest. There are magazines and other heritage research items available for purchase; the library staff can also research heritage or genealogy questions for customers and will respond within two weeks with as much information as they can find.

Museum of the Moving Image is located in Astoria, N.Y. It collects preserves and provides access to moving-image related artifacts, screens films and other moving-image works, presents exhibitions of artifacts, artworks and interactive experiences. It also offers educational and interpretive programs to students, teachers and the general public. The theater is equipped for various formats of film, video and computer data and seats upto 200 people. The galleries contain three floors of interactive exhibitions and film and television artifacts and can accommodate upto 600 guests. It provides rental space for parties, such as birthday parties, sweet sixteens, bar mitzvahs, product launches and film premieres. The museum-approved caterers provide hors doeuvres, cocktails and seated dinners. The museum shop features books, toys, gifts, jewelry, postcards and souvenirs. The caf serves beverages, snacks and sandwiches.

The Roseville Utility Exploration Center is situated inside the library complex of Maheny Regional Park. Here, visitors can view exhibits about water conservation, solid waste disposal and energy conservation. The drop-in exploration center was the first city building to earn LEED certification. It offers school field trips, tours and workshops on green technologies for homeowners, business owners or anyone in the community with an interest in environmental issues.
