Glencairn Museum presents religious life through the ages by means of a remarkable collection that illustrates religions as varied as ancient Egyptian, ancient Greek and Roman, medieval Christian, Islamic, Asian and American Indian.
Glencairn was the home of Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn, built in the Romanesque style between 1928-1939. In 1980, after Mildred Pitcairn passed away, Glencairn was given to the Academy of the New Church to house its museum collection. Glencairn now serves as a museum of art and the history of religion, serving the Academy of the New Church schools and the broader public.
Glencairn Museum is part of the Bryn Athyn Historic District, and is associated with the Academy of the New Church Secondary Schools and Bryn Athyn College.
With the exception of special events, the museum is only accessible through guided tours. Tours leave regularly on weekdays at 2:30 p.m. and Saturdays at 1, 1:30, 2:30 and 3 p.m.
New Life Christian Pre-School operates out of the New Life Christian Church. The school has a staff of nine teachers and administrators. Reading, math, science, art and scriptures are taught to pre-kindergarten level students. Two, three and five day programs are available for children. The area surrounding the school is quiet and clean. New Life Christian School is located off of South State Street, close to Route 413.
