The Parkwood Pool Complex is part of the excellent Great Neck Park District system. It is a modern and recently upgraded complex which features a large main pool, an intermediate pool, a wading pool, a water playground a water slide and more.
This year, 2010, was the first year of the "lazy river" at Parkwood. Water jets slowly push tubes and even tandem tubes around a winding water path.
Parkwood Pool Complex also features a snack bar, first aid, bathhouses, lounges, numerous lifeguards and plenty of seating, in the sun or in the shade, is readily available.
The Harvey School is a Katonah based academic institution specializing in college preparatory services for students in 6th through 12th grade and presided over by headmaster Barry Fenstermacher. The Harvey School designs a challenging academic curriculum, supports students with a faculty of education professionals and provides athletic and elective opportunities including participation in local sports leagues, dance, chorus, theatre and instrumental music. Students interested in AP classes can pursue college level courses in biology, American history, calculus, chemistry, computer science, English, European history, Latin and Spanish. Online educational services are available through the eHarvey program, while an optional 5-day boarding experience is available to students in the high school program.
Part of the Nassau County park system since 1961 and located at W. John Street, Cantiague Park offers something for everyone in the entire family to enjoy for hours of fun. The facility includes lighted handball/paddleball, tennis and basketball courts, four softball fields and four multi-sport fields. The park also features a 9-hole, par 30 golf course, an 18-hole mini-golf course, an indoor ice skating rink and an outdoor with diving, training, kiddie and Olympic-sized swimming pools. Kids especially enjoy the two water slides and interactive water play area. Fees vary for residents and non-residents, and individuals with Leisure Passes enjoy special discounts. Parking is free for residents and picnic areas can be reserved.
