Deer Creek Recreation Club is a private club for members only, located off 143rd St. in Plainfield. This secluded and peaceful property has two lakes and many activities, including boating, fishing, hunting, camping, trap shooting and virtual hunting on a 3D range. The club also has a playground, a clubhouse, a trap house and two pavilions.
Normantown Trails Equestrian Center, a 6-acre facility, has a large indoor riding arena with a heated observation area, a small indoor riding arena, two large outdoor riding arenas and five paddocks. The stable has 48 stalls and includes a renovated indoor wash rack, as well as a club room/classroom. The center offers group instruction, private and semi-private lessons for riders of all ages and levels in English, Western, Dressage and Hunter-Jumper. Residents can board horses and rent the facility for pony rides and parties.
Xtreme Speed is a training facility for all levels of athletes. It specializes in sports requiring speed and jumping, attracting patrons from all over Chicagoland. More-intense, well-rounded fitness options are also available. Most classes are one hour.
The Edge Sports Performance Academy is dedicated to training young athletes for baseball and softball. Tryouts are held at the beginning of August for teams and are open to any who are interested.
The Plainfield Soccer Association is a non-profit organization that offers soccer instruction and organized youth leagues to the community. It offers recreational leagues for school-age children as well as Legends travel team programs. Recreation league seasons occur in the fall, winter and spring, with volunteer parent coaches, 1 to 2 practices a week and games on weekends. The Legends program is a greater commitment and higher level soccer, playing year-round against teams throughout the Chicago area. The leagues are meant to provide fun and supportive environments that cultivate player development and sportsmanship.
Super Kicks Martial Arts is a martial arts academy located in a strip mall at the intersection of Caton Farm and County Line roads in Plainfield. Classes are offered for boys and girls ages 3 to 15 and adult classes are offered for those 16-years-old and up. The instructors have 35 years combined martial arts teaching experience. Plainfield Athletic Club is a nonprofit boys baseball and girls softball association for kids who are 5 years old to 18 years old. Games are grouped based on age level and are played at Plainfield Park District area fields. Two of the main play areas are the Ottawa Street field and the fields at Four Seasons Community Park. The Ottawa Street Pool is a Plainfield institution that has been in operation since 1980. In addition to daily swim hours, classes are offered in the morning and special events, such as Flick-N-Float movies and family theme nights, are held all summer. Groups of 20 or more can obtain special rates. Additionally, season pass holders are granted admission to open swim 15 minutes prior to the general public.
Hometown Fitness is a gym located in a strip mall set back from the road off Route 59 (south of Renwick Road) in Plainfield. Memberships are month-to-month with no contracts to sign and no cancellation fees. The gym offers personal trainers and a nutritionist on site. There is a dance studio, circuit machines, free weights, stair steppers, treadmills and elliptical machines.
