Established in 1923, Arlington Friends of the Drama is one of the oldest community theater groups in the country. Located in the former St. John's Episcopal Church, the group produces five different shows annually, including musicals, a comedy and a drama. Members receive benefits such as discount tickets to all shows, invitations to season open and close parties and other perks. Individual tickets are also available.
The New Jersey Repertory Company is nonprofit theater that produces about six plays per years and hosts more than 25 script-in-hand readings. The company offers two performance spaces for rent. The organization's mission is to develop and produce new plays in order to expand the repertoire of the American stage, without favoring any style over another.
The Lyric Stage Company of Boston is a not-for-profit theater company that puts on seven shows a year. Shows include musicals, dramas, comedies, literary plays and new and classic plays. The company also offers youth programs, such as a summer program for teens between the ages of 14 and 20, who get to participate in workshops and theater productions.
In the summer of 1970, Marvin and Jan Klebe bought a two-room school house on the outskirts of Petaluma and started Cinnabar Theater. Their goal was to create a place where local talent could perform, collaborate and educate. Today, Cinnabar Theater is the only venue in Sonoma County that produces opera, musical theater, dramatic theater, chamber series, dance and special festivals. The Cinnabar Young Rep is a year-round program that offers classes, workshops, performance opportunities, summer camps and festivals, where children as young as 4 learn the art of the theater.
