The Saw Mill River Audubon Society (SMRA), in Mt. Kisco, has been open for more than 55 years for bird-watchers and walkers alike. The office is housed on 92 acres and home to nearly three miles of woodland trails. It has eight affiliated sanctuaries. As one of five Northern Westchester Audubon Society chapters, it sponsors numerous trips and programs as well as scholarships throughout the New York area.
Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is owned by the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation and operated by the Bartow-Pell Conservancy. The site was built between 1836 and 1842 and epitomizes country life in the area during the 19th century. It was opened as a museum in 1946, offering visitors of all ages a look into a distinct time period through its landscape, gardens and the mansion itself. The site is the last remaining country house in the area, offering visitors a chance to see Greek Revival interiors and a collection of paintings, furniture and decorative art from the period. Classes, tours and public programs are offered to children and adults. The museum also offers two spaces for private events and meetings and a backdrop that can be used for commercial photography. The Yorktown Grange is a fraternal organization and a chapter of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry that presents the Yorktown Grange Fair each year. The agricultural and county fair hosts participation games, watermelon eating, pie eating, carnival rides, livestock exhibitions and much more. There are also tents selling flowers, vegetables, fruits, photos, baked goods and local specialties.
