Brooklyn Childrens Museum, founded in 1899, is one of the few museums created for children. The museum offers educational experiences through innovation in exhibitions, programs and use of its collections. The museum is located on more than 100,000 square feet and serves over 400,000 visitors a year. It offers services and activities, such as interactive multimedia presentations, hands-on activities, artifacts and innovative designs. Brooklyn Childrens Museum received two awards; including Curators Committee Award for excellence in concept and design, and Media and Technology Award; from the American Association of Museums in 1991.
