Chartered by the Connecticut state legislature in 1882, the Knights of Columbus is a fraternal benefit society and one of the largest Catholic organizations. It is responsible for providing financial aid to members and their families. The organization offers assistance to the sick, disabled and needy. The Knights of Columbus coordinates various educational, charitable, religious, social welfare, and war and public relief projects. This is Post 434 of the American Legion. The American Legion is a non-profit organization for veterans that offers community service and mutual helpfulness. It offers local programs and activities dedicated to promoting patriotism and supporting those who serve and have served the country.

This post offers events for the local community at its hall and a schedule of events can be viewed on the website. Annual Christmas and Easter parties are the two big events of the year. Baseball games and horseshoe playing are regular summer activities this post offers. Fish fry dinners are held from 5pm to 9pm on Fridays for the months of September to May. 

The hall features a full bar and can fit 300 guests for events. Rental of the hall is offered for weddings, showers, graduations, brunches, meetings, parties, anniversaries and other private events.
