Chai Tots Preschool is licensed Jewish preschool program for families from all walks of life. It offers a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn and grow. The facility, led by director Sarah Hecht, offers programs and activities for students aged 18 months through five years. Activities and programs include lessons in music, reading, physical education, show and tell, Hebrew language, arts and crafts and much more. Extended-day programs are available as well.
P.S. 309 is a public school that serves grades PK-5. The principal is Emily Zucal. The school has struggled in years past with meeting city wide standards on test scores. But student academic achievement has picked up in the last few years, according to "Inside Schools," a popular Web-based school evaluation service. Still, there are complaints of a lack of extra curricular activities, scarce reading materials and other school supplies.
The school shares its campus with Excellence Girls Charter School, located on the third floor.
Barking Cat Studio Make It! & Take It! Arts & Crafts is an art studio located in Boerum Hill. The studio's mission is to foster creative talents and appreciation in children through art projects and games. Youth visitors to the studio are engaged through painting, drawing and other hands-on artistic learning. Birthday parties can also be hosted at the studio.
Early Sprouts is an early intervention program for special needs' children up to three years old. The program is free of cost, and includes services based on the children's needs, such as in-home physical and speech therapy, emotional development and adaptive functioning.
The Brooklyn Arts Exchange is a local arts organization with a multipurpose facility and performance space on Fifth Avenue. BAX offers classes, workshops, resources and performance opportunities for dancers and actors of all ages. It also hosts artists-in-residency and space-grant programs.

For more than 25 years, Park Slope Communication Center has been helping children and adults improve their aptitude for speech, language, reading and learning. Speech and language therapy is available for all ages and separate language courses are offered for elementary school children. Classes are also available for adult stutterers and for children struggling with getting to know their peers. The center's tutors can help kids with homework, math and reading skills.
Open House Nursery School has been serving families in Brooklyn since 1973. Open House believes in teaching children to be sensitive, curious and flexible. Students are accepted through a lottery process.
P.S. 25 or The Eubie Blake School serves grades Pre-K to 5. The principal is Anita Coley. The school's academic record has struggled in past years, but the school's new principal is working to rebrand its image. In 2009 P.S. 25 applied for and won a grant to participate in the iZone Pilot Program. The iZone Program provides every single student with a personal computer in each classroom.
The school's principal says that, already, student attendance and classroom cooperation have improved significantly because of students' ability to work independently and in an engaging way.
As part of promoting a college culture, children in each grade level are assigned a group and a college, a mock enrollment they maintain throughout their time at the school.
The Park Slope Child Care Collective is a secular preschool cooperative located in Memorial Presbyterian Church on Seventh Avenue with a strong emphasis on social and emotional development. Children are able to attend either full-time or part-time for three, four or five days a week. Member families are required to work at the school at least 18 hours per year.
In 2009, Bedford Academy was ranked among the the best U.S. high schools (bronze medal) by U.S. News and World Report. The school's principal is Adofo Muhammad; total enrollment is 325 students. Patricia F. Robinson Music Studio provides musical instruction in a variety of instruments. Classes also are available in art, photography, modeling and drama. Executive director Patricia Robinson teaches classes at this studio along with nine other instructors.
Excellence Girls Charter School is an all-girls, free public charter school, serving grades K-8. The school's principal is Ms. Celestina De La Garza. Excellence Girls is a part of the Uncommon Schools network, and like the other schools in the network, it is a college preparatory school. The school opened in September 2009 to 145 kindergarteners and first-graders and will add a class every year, as each class advances.
Students wear uniforms. The curriculum is rigorous, with more than three hours of daily literacy instruction and one hour of math instruction, along with social studies, science, music, art and character education.
The school shares a campus with P.S. 309, The George E. Wibecam school which occupies the first and second floors. Excellence Girls is located on the third floor.
Brooklyn Guitar School is located near the corner of Fourth Avenue and St. Marks Place. The location offers a stage and performance space. Guitar classes are offered for beginners, intermediates, and lead guitarists. Each class is limited to six students. Private lessons are also available.
