P.S. 305 is a public school that serves preschoolers through fifth-graders. Student enrollment is 351. The students wear uniforms. In 2001, the school was on the SURR list (school under registration review). But since the hiring of new administration and staff in 2002, the school has  slowly improved. Many of the school's students come from the area's surrounding projects and homeless shelters. Although there is a dedicated staff committed to reviving the school, it still lacks many academic resources. The school shares its campus with M.S. 301, a high-performing middle school.

El Hajj Malik El Shabazz School, or PS/IS 262, is a public school that serves students from pre-kindergarten to sixth grade. The school is named after the African-American leader, Malcolm X. The Noel Pointer Foundation is a youth arts foundation that runs in-school music programming, serving children in 26 New York City public schools and reaching more than 800 students.
