The Westchester Table Tennis Center is a 13,000-square-foot facility that opened in Pleasantville in May 2011. Owned by Pleasantville resident and New York Times crossword puzzle Editor Will Shortz, the center has 18 "Double Happiness" table tennis tables, high ceilings, lounge and locker rooms/showers for men and women. Located three-and-a-half blocks from the Pleasantville Metro-North Train Station, the club aims to be the premier table tennis facility in Westchester. There are more than 100 free parking spaces on premise for patrons. The center offers group training, one-on-one lessons, youth playing times and accommodates all levels of skill. It offers both one-year memberships and day rates.
With 300 members, half of them kids, the India Community Center's Table Tennis Center is the largest indoor facility of its kind in northern California. Twenty-five players here are ranked nationally, mostly youth and young adults who receive training from six full-time instructors on visas from China and India.
If you're not a member of the Indian Community Center, the drop in rate is $7 per day. Or a ten-day pass is available for $60.
For $500 a month ($550 for non-members), the Talented Kids Program will equip your little one with rackets and supplies, and enroll them in a combination of 16-week camps, private lessons and group classes. Children as young as five can join.
The Table Tennis Center is a separate stand-alone facility in another location and has air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The main room holds 18 to 23 tables, depending on the need.
