Banyan Montessori Academy is an educational institution that is located on Canton Center Rd. The school offers a safe and nurturing environment for students. It works to promote academic growth. Banyan Montessori Academy offers programs for students ages 2.9 to 6 years old. The curriculum includes a range of subjects, such as language, math, science, geography and art. The school offers before- and after-school care, as well as Kindergarten programs and morning sessions.
The Eton Academy, located next to St. Columban Church on Melton Road, is a nationally awarded school designed to educate students with reading, attention and other learning challenges. The school includes students from first grade through 12th grade, and features a research-based curriculum as well as specialized support.
All Eton teachers are trained in Dr. Mel Levine's schools attunded neurodevelopmental approach to instruction, with the academic curriclum based in personalized instruction, a focus on literarcy and student development, and social and emotional support. Teachers and classrooms are eqipped with the latest technology to help students learn, includng SmartBoards and Phonic Ear.
Students also take classes in physical education, music and art, and can also participate in athletics. The school is tuition-based, and students must go through a formal application process for admission.
Neighborhood Child Care Center is tucked into an entirely residential neighborhood just west of Main St. and is within a stone's throw of Paint Creek Trail and Rochester Municipal Park. Todd and Mary Greenbaum founded the center in Pontiac in 1977 and moved into the current location on Griggs Street in 1987.
Rather than divide children by age, children are instead put into multi-age groups of about ten children that rotate through the center's rooms. The building features a drama room, art room, library and gym, and children are free to move between the rooms and throughout the center.
Trinity Lutheran Church has been serving the community in Utica since 1882. From the church's humble beginings, it has grown to about 4,000 congregants and a school that teaches about 500 students a year.
The school, which credits itself with preparing students with skills to be a leader in the Christian community, offers pre-school and K - 8 programs. It also offers child care, Young 5's, (preschool and K-8 programs).
Busing is available to those who reside in the Utica Community School district.
